Welcome to Smart Living Mama
Hey there, mama! Welcome to the blog! I’m Kristine. I’m a wife, mother, daughter, sister, homeschooling mama, online ESL teacher, writer, blogger, and most importantly, a daughter of the one true King. If you’d like to get to know me better, you can read a little more about me and my story here.
I’m thrilled that you’re here!
I am so honored and ecstatic that you’ve decided to take some time out of your busy day to visit me in my little corner of the web. I know firsthand how precious time is as a stay-at-home mom with little kids underfoot, so I will try my best to make this introduction relatively short and sweet! 🙂
You’re busy, right? And a bit overwhelmed?
I hear you.
You’ve got your hands full with the many responsibilities of being a mom, wife, homemaker, and more. You’re juggling meals, cleaning up after the kids, doing what seems like endless loads of laundry, and you’re finding it extremely hard to do so many things while making sure you’re doing them all well.
If you’re anything like me, you’ve been searching for a way to make things a bit easier. To simplify and prioritize the things that really do matter. To create margin in your life.
I was once where you are now — feeling totally overwhelmed and helpless. As though I was on this hamster wheel of never-ending to-do’s and couldn’t get off for even a moment.
I get it, mama. I so get it.
But things changed for me when I gave it all to God and allowed myself a little bit of grace.
Watch this quick video I made specifically for you:
Can you relate to this at all, mama?
Do you need to give yourself a bit of grace in this season? I’m guessing that you do, and I think that this post may help you.
So what can you find here at Smart Living Mama?
My passion is to help encourage other mamas in this season of motherhood; to help them know they are abundantly loved by God – even in their blessed yet messy life – and to help them grow both in their walk with God and in their ministry as a wife and mother.
I write about the following topics here on the blog:
I made so many mistakes years ago as a new wife, and then later, as a new mom. Even now, after 15 years of marriage and more than 10 years as a mother — I’m still making mistakes!
But, oh! All the things I have learned along the way! I have come so far as a wife and a mother (by the grace of God), but I definitely still have so far to go!
My Family Life category is by far my most meaty and diverse category. In this section, I share my experiences, tips, and (ever-growing!) knowledge on several different family topics, such as: marriage, pregnancy and birth, breastfeeding, motherhood, parenting, faith, homeschooling, living life with intention and purpose, giving yourself grace, and so much more….all while keeping God first in your life and in your home.
I have a confession to make: I have not always been the best homemaker. I’ve been a terrible one, in fact. I struggled for years with keeping up with housekeeping responsibilities, trying to keep my home organized, getting home-cooked meals on the table…and finding the time to balance it all.
But now, I have systems and routines in place to help me keep my home clean & clutter-free (without losing my sanity!), I no longer stress about what I’m making for dinner each night, and I actually have time to enjoy my family.
In the House + Home category, you will find easy-to-implement strategies for cleaning and organizing, meal planning, productivity and time management…and even some fun crafts and DIY projects, too!
The minute I saw those two pink lines on the pregnancy test, I knew I wanted to do everything I could to keep myself and the baby as healthy as possible. That moment sparked a desire to learn as much as I could about healthy living, and I dove head-first into soaking up every bit of information I could.
Living my healthiest life possible has now become a passion of mine, and while I certainly am not perfect, I do my best to keep myself and my family as healthy as I can.
In the Healthy Living category, I share everything I’ve learned about how to keep your family healthy, natural home remedies for when you or your family get sick (including plenty of DIY home remedies), whole food eating (including easy and delicious recipes), and the importance of self care.
When we were first married, my husband and I barely knew the first thing about managing money properly. We were young and naive, and we eventually found ourselves in heaps of debt while living paycheck-to-paycheck.
We’ve come a very long way in our finances since then. And while we still have a long way to go, we have learned quite a bit about money management over the years and finally have systems in place to make our money work for us instead of the other way around.
In the Smart Money category, you will find posts on simple but effective budgeting methods, living frugally without feeling stifled, smart ways to quickly pay off debt, innovative tips and resources for making more money, and faith-based giving.
My mission here at Smart Living Mama is to share with other tired, overwhelmed mamas the tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years to living a more simple, intentional, and productive life. The lessons I’ve learned – through trial and error – have helped shaped my life into a more fulfilling one, and my desire is to help you cultivate a blessed and less-stressed life as well.
I’ll help you learn how to lean into God during each season of motherhood. To help you realize that you’re not alone in this journey. To offer tips and encouragement from things that have helped me. And just to be your online mama friend who has been where you are and understands the ups and downs of motherhood.
I am delighted and honored that you’ve chosen to spend some time here at Smart Living Mama. I hope you will join me on this journey, and I pray my blog is a blessing to you, sweet mama! Thanks so much for visiting, and I hope you stay awhile!
