Color-Coded Books of the Bible Printable for Kids

Your kids will love learning all about the books of the Bible with today’s free printable!

I did not grow up in church, so learning and memorizing the books of the Bible was a difficult thing for me as an adult.

My husband, however, was born and raised in church and grew up attending Sunday school. Along with learning about God and His word, singing Sunday school songs, and memorizing scripture, he also learned about and memorized the books of the Bible.

Thankfully, our kids are being raised in church and attend Sunday school so they are getting the same rich learning experience that my husband had.

But that doesn’t mean that we as parents can’t add to that learning experience at home!

I’ve made printable scripture memorization cards to help my kids memorize Bible verses and today, I’m sharing with you this color-coded Books of the Bible printable I’ve made specifically for kids!

Books of the Bible Printable for Kids

Since children have the ability to soak up information so much more quickly as kids than later in life as adults, I wanted to create an easy way to help them learn about and memorize the books of the Bible.

So I created this colorful Books of the Bible printable to hang in our homeschool room.

While it looks pretty and has eye-catching colors, the colors are actually strategically done. I color-coded all of the books of the Bible by type.

Here are the categories I used to separate out each type:

Red: The Law
Yellow: History of Israel
Teal: Poetry
Light Purple: Major Prophets
Green: Minor Prophets
Orange: Gospel
Dark Purple: Church History
Pink: Letters Written by Paul
Blue: General Letters
Lime Green: Prophecy

Color-coding in this way gives kids a simple visual key code in which they can easily locate and identify each type of book in the Bible.

We also use a CD similar to this one to sing the books of the Bible while reading along from the printable. It helps our kids memorize the books of the Bible much easier when they are seeing the words in front of them while putting it to a catchy tune!

Displaying Our Books of the Bible Printable

I knew I wanted to display this print someplace in our home where our kids would be able to see it very often.

I figured the colors went well with the colors in our homeschool room, and since we are in there 4-5 days a week, they would see it almost daily.

So I printed it out on heavy bright white cardstock and framed it in an 8×10 wooden frame.

It now hangs on our homeschool wall next to our whiteboard for our kids to see every time they’re in that space!
